Pourquoi nous fabriquons en France — et pourquoi ça change tout

Why we manufacture in France — and why it changes everything

There's a question we're often asked.

"Why are your t-shirts more expensive than those found elsewhere?"

The answer is simple. And it comes down to two words: made in France.

But behind these two words lies a reality that few brands dare to tell. We, however, will tell you the whole story.

The fashion we were sold

For years, we were taught to buy a lot, often, and cheaply. A €5 t-shirt, a new collection every two weeks, permanent sales. Fast fashion has turned our closets into trash cans and our planet into a textile dump.

This model comes at a cost. We all pay it — just not at the checkout.

It's paid for in polluted rivers in Bangladesh. In the hands of workers paid a few cents an hour. In the 92 million tons of textile waste produced worldwide each year. In the clothes you've only worn three times before throwing them away.

Garçon Fidèle was born from a refusal. A refusal of this model.

The choice of the Vosges

When we decided to launch Garçon Fidèle, we could have done like everyone else. Found a supplier in Bangladesh, Portugal, or Turkey. Cheaper. Faster. Simpler.

We chose the Vosges.

Not out of romanticism. Out of conviction.

L'Atelier Textile Français, based in Épinal, is one of those rare French manufacturers that survived the textile deindustrialization of the 90s. Decades of know-how. Machines that knit GOTS-certified organic cotton with a precision that few workshops in the world can offer.

When you wear a Garçon Fidèle t-shirt, you're wearing something that was knitted, cut, and sewn in Épinal — in the Vosges. In France. By people we know.

The printing in Lyon

After the Vosges, your item goes to Lyon.

It's there, in our partner workshop, that each Garçon Fidèle design comes to life. Artisan DTF printing — precise, durable, designed to withstand time and washing.

Lyon was not a random choice. It's our city. It's where we came up with the idea for Garçon Fidèle. It's where we wanted to anchor our production.

From organic cotton in the Vosges to your skin — your item has never left France.

GOTS organic cotton — not a marketing argument

We often hear "organic cotton" as a selling point. A word slapped on a label to justify a higher price.

At Garçon Fidèle, GOTS organic cotton is a non-negotiable requirement.

GOTS — Global Organic Textile Standard — is the most demanding organic textile certification in the world. It guarantees that the cotton has been grown without pesticides or chemical fertilizers, that working conditions throughout the supply chain are respectful, and that every stage of processing is traceable and certified.

From field to skin. No compromises.

Pre-order — our refusal of waste

There's another decision we made from the start that defines Garçon Fidèle as much as Made in France.

We only produce what is ordered.

No dormant stock in a warehouse. No discounted collection at the end of the season. No unsold items ending up incinerated — a common practice in the industry.

Your pre-order directly triggers the production of your item. No more, no less.

This is what we call on-demand fashion. It's slower. It's more demanding. It's the only honest way to do things.

1 order = €1 donated to French reforestation

Because manufacturing in France is not enough.

Each Garçon Fidèle order contributes to planting a tree in a French forest — in partnership with 1Action1Arbre. A geolocated, certified tree that will grow for decades.

Not a symbolic tree somewhere in the world. A real tree, in France, traceable.

What you're really buying

When you order from Garçon Fidèle, you're not just buying a piece of clothing.

You're supporting a Vosges manufacturer that is fighting to survive in a globalized market. You're participating in the revival of French textiles. You're refusing waste. You're contributing to tree planting.

And you're wearing something that will last — because it was made to last.

Buy less. Buy better. Buy French.

That's our vision. That's Garçon Fidèle.
